Fishery Management Program Associate

We seek candidates to fill a permanent Fishery Management Program Associate position to support facilitation of A Joint Strategic Plan for Management of Great Lakes Fisheries (Joint Strategic Plan). The successful candidate will 1) assist with implementation of lake committees’ Environmental Priorities by working with funding partners and local groups to complete fish habitat restoration projects by overseeing management of feasibility, design, and construction elements of various projects, including budget tracking, reporting, and project team coordination; 2) assist with development of meeting agendas and completion of action items associated with the Aquatic Connectivity Tradeoffs Committee; 3) support the Great Lakes Fishery and Ecosystem Restoration Act (GLFER) review committee, including liaising with US Army Corps of Engineers personnel to enhance delivery of projects; and 4) provide other assistance to the various Joint Strategic Plan committees as opportunities arise.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues at GLFC, NOAA-Fisheries, US Army Corps of Engineers, and signatory agencies to the Joint Strategic Plan, as well as partners throughout the Great Lakes basin. The annual salary range is $81,500 – $100,000 and includes benefits. The preferred start date could be as early as Summer 2025 or as negotiated.

The ideal candidates will possess an advanced degree in fisheries or aquatic sciences and have several years of experience working for or closely with a natural resource management agency. Experience with project management, contracting, management decision making, report writing, and developing and delivering oral presentations will be beneficial. Other desirable skills include data compilation and synthesis, note taking, critical problem solving, adaptability, and facilitation.
