What we want
The Fitness Instructor 4 is responsible for providing safe and effective workouts to music using the most current techniques sanctioned by leading certification specialists. Assist in monitoring class enrollment and the setting up and storing of equipment.
What you need to know
Salary: $12.20 per hour

Position details: Lift, move, and/or carry heavy and awkward items, occasionally. This is a part-time, temporary position. Mandatory staff training workshop prior to instructing classes. A semester meeting, workshop, or event is required on the weekend.
Physical Requirements: Aerobic activities using body weight. May use weights/resistance equipment. Courses may take place in pool.
Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma

Experience in participation with group exercise, and some experience in assisting or teaching group exercise classes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Knowledge of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle
-
Basic understanding of the cardiovascular system, anatomy, and kinesiology
-
Participation in group exercise, and some experience in assisting or teaching
-
Moderate to high personal fitness level
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in delivering a variety of fitness instruction: low impact, high impact, step, slide, resistance training, dance fitness, bootcamp, aqua, barre, mind/body, indoor cycling, etc.
Responsibilities:
-
Fitness Classes – Ensures the safety of all participants by using proper form and techniques learned in the training program prior to instructing. Educates participants in the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Continues personal growth and knowledge by attending mandatory training workshops. Provides assistance in the monitoring of class enrollment by checking aerobic class passes. Ensures the safe use of exercise apparatus. Is available before and after class to answer participants’ questions. Assists with semester workshops/meetings. Assists with certification preparation. Performs other duties as assigned.
