About Haringey

Haringey Council is one of 32 in London. Haringey is an extremely diverse borough, and the
Council has set clear ambitious objectives through its borough plan to make Haringey a better
place to live, encourage investment and create opportunities that all can share. Haringey’s
vision for the future is one of sustainable growth, in housing and jobs and on helping our
residents and businesses take advantage of that growth. We have got huge ambitions for
Haringey. As the shape of local government continues to change, we are determined to rise to
the challenge and find new ways to ensure that our residents enjoy the best opportunities in
life. Working at Haringey gives you the opportunity to play a part in meeting those ambitions
on behalf of everyone who calls the borough their home.

About the role

Haringey Council is currently seeking a Fitter (Maintenance) to become part of their newly
formed Landscape team within the Parks service. We are in search of a dedicated and passionate
individual who can bring their skills and expertise to the team. As a fitter the successful
candidate will be assisting with maintenance and improvement of all hard-surface areas
including multi-use games areas (MUGA’s), outdoor gyms, play areas, synthetic and artificial
playing surfaces (e.g., 3G courts) and sports courts, ensuring that all equipment and surfaces
are maintained efficiently, and safe to use.

You will promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with current regulations and
safety guidelines, particularly around diagnosing problems and carrying out repairs that have
been highlighted through routine inspections and reacting to any emergency requests. You will
assist with making safe any item of equipment or areas of a park that have been deemed to be a
hazard to public safety pending permanent repair or replacement. If you are an enthusiastic
individual with a love for repair and maintenance, we encourage you to apply for this exciting
opportunity to join our team at Haringey Council.

About the team

We are looking for individuals who can work effectively in small teams on a day-to-day basis.
As a fitter, you will have similar responsibilities as your colleagues, and you will cover the
borough, enhancing parks, and sports facilities by implementing routine and reactive
maintenance. The job involves working in all weather conditions, but our teams are dedicated to
making the local environment a pleasant place to visit, no matter what.

About you

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual who is committed to maintaining high
standards of the local environment. The ideal candidate must be friendly, possess excellent
interpersonal skills, and have a versatile skill set to carry out a range of tasks. The role is
varied and requires the ability to handle powered hand tools and drive ride-on machinery and a
3.5T van, which necessitates a full clean UK driving license. If you have a passion for
maintaining high quality parks and sports facilities and enjoy working in a role that demands
different skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity to be part of our
team.

Working for Haringey

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel
valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse
workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to
make a difference to our residents and community. Our benefits package includes a leave
entitlement of 27 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and
wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes
across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.
