Position Summary:
Renders skilled emergency treatment to the critically ill or injured patient on emergency scenes or in medical facilities; and during transport to tertiary care facilities via helicopter.

Maintains and presents a positive program image for internal and external customers, patient families, and visitors. Professional associations and relationships with referring agencies and facilities.

Safety and Aviation Duties
-
Assures operations areas are secure and free of safety hazards during takeoffs and landings.

Secures aircraft doors.
-
Performs FAA safety briefings.
-
Performs fire safety activities during start-ups and shutdowns.
-
Reports safety concerns per UHS and Aviation Vendor Policies.

Demonstrates competent performance of medical duties.
-
Provides direct patient care using a process of assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and reevaluation within parameters of program medical protocols and standing orders.

Demonstrates use of appropriate medical skills, equipment, and procedures in all patient care activities.

Performs inspection, re-supply, and cleaning/disinfection of program transport vehicles on a daily or as needed basis.

Accurately documents assessments, diagnosis, and interventions in departmental patient records, written and electronic. Reports findings and actions to receiving agencies or/and facilities.

Attends quarterly Simulation Labs.

Meets the requirements of a paramedic at UTMC.

Maintains Paramedic license per State of Tennessee, North Carolina, and Kentucky EMS Air Ambulance Rules

Maintains National Registry Paramedic Certification

Maintains provider status in ACLS, NRP, ITLS or PHTLS, and PALS.

Maintains advanced certification per Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina State EMS Air Ambulance Rules

Position Qualification:
Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school required.
Minimum three years experience as a Paramedic in an active city or county 911 EMS system or municipal Fire/EMS department
Previous flight experience is preferred
ACLS, BTLS/PHTLS, PALS, Licensure as a Paramedic in the state of Tennessee.
