The European Dairy Association (EDA) is the voice of the milk processing industry in the European Union.
Our members are the national trade associations for dairy processors in EU Member States.
Position: “Food Policy” trainee
Location: Brussels (Belgium), European Quarter

We are looking for a “Food Policy” trainee for a 6 months period (potential prolongation). We offer a Belgian “contrat d’immersion professionnelle” contract, starting ideally in September 2024 or earlier.
Profile:
- Some experience in the EU environment – understanding of the EU policy making process, ideally some knowledge of the EU food law
- A background or knowledge in nutrition/ food law/ food technology/ food safety/environment/ sustainability or similar areas is an asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are essential, knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage
- Flexible and dynamic team player
- Capacity to prioritise and proactivity in pursuing the dairy topics
- Able to work on their own initiative and take responsibility
Main responsibilities:
- Monitor, analyse and evaluate the impact of legislative developments at the EU level in the areas of food policy, environment and health
- Gather and interpret a broad variety of information and actively work on shaping the legal framework for the future
- Inform our EDA members, support and steer the activities of our related working groups
- Contribute to drafting EDA position papers, reports and other publications
- Maintain contacts with representatives of various EU authorities and other relevant stakeholders
- Additional support of the department or office (related topics, administrative and internal processes)
