Join the Life Sciences team at the St. Louis Aquarium and play a vital role in caring for the animals that make our exhibits extraordinary. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, dependable individual to join us as a Food Preparer, preparing specialized diets for a variety of aquatic and terrestrial species. This behind-the-scenes role is essential to the health and wellbeing of the animals in our care, and no two days are the same!

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare and portion daily animal diets following species-specific guidelines.
• Order and rotate food inventory, monitor expiration dates, and inspect all incoming food for quality.
• Keep food storage and preparation areas, including walk-in refrigerators and freezers, clean, organized, and compliant with all health and safety standards.
• Assist with back-of-house duties and general husbandry support as needed.
• Work closely with the Life Sciences team to ensure animal care operations meet the highest standards.
• Support conservation, education, and guest engagement efforts across the facility.

What We’re Looking For:

• Prior food handling or preparation experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in cold environments (e.g. walk-in freezers).
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule as needed.
