Food Systems Entrepreneur Ecosystem Developer

The Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) AmeriCorps Program offers a unique opportunity to connect the personal and professional development aspirations of the next generation with the community needs of rural Oregon. RARE members serve for 11 months (from September 4, 2024 to July 31, 2025) in rural Oregon communities where they get to take on meaningful and impactful projects, chosen by the communities themselves. 

In this position with the City of La Grande, you’ll be strengthening the local food system by supporting small-scale food manufacturing, micro producers and makers. You’ll help develop a shared use commercial kitchen, build relationships with and support local food entrepreneurs, do outreach at the farmers market and other events, and more–in order to grow and sustain local food efforts in La Grande and the surrounding county.
