Description
A field technician is needed for the 2025 field season to do avian and vegetation surveys and collect data in southwestern New Hampshire as part of the Wildlife and Ecology Lab at Antioch University. Successful applicants will have point count experience and be able to identify forest and shrubland birds of southern New Hampshire by sight and sound. Basic tree and shrub identification skills are also needed.
The position is estimated to be 13 weeks between mid-May through mid-August. Hired applicants will be provided orientation and trainings such as site visits. Point counts will be during the month of June and early July, with some potentially continuing later in July and August. Vegetation sampling will be conducted in July and August. Throughout the season, data entry and report writing will be conducted.
A willingness to begin surveys soon after sunrise and work independently is required for point counts, and teamwork is necessary to collect vegetation data. Technicians will be working on both public and private land, requiring communication with stakeholders ahead of time and during site visits.
Pay is $22.00 per hour and mileage reimbursement requests will be paid at the federal rate. Housing is not provided, but we will provide a list of local affordable seasonal housing.
