DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role involves overseeing personnel engaged in wildland fire management activities. The primary responsibilities include supervising a team dedicated to wildfire suppression, prevention, and investigation, as well as the implementation of prescribed fire practices. The position requires a strong understanding of fire behavior, safety protocols, and effective communication skills to ensure that all team members are well-coordinated and informed. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for training staff, developing operational plans, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. This leadership role is crucial in maintaining the safety of both the team and the public while effectively managing wildland fire risks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Overtime: May be required for such work as wildfire suppression, training, and travel
• Travel: Will be required for training, meetings, and for wildland fire assignments.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hazle Township.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four seasons of experience in fire suppression and pre-suppression work, and graduation from high school, or certification of equivalent training; or
• Any combination of education and experience which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skill, and abilities.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license of the proper class for the vehicles operated, as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
