JOB SUMMARY
Wallowa Resources is seeking a Forest Stewardship Crew Project Manager to lead a small field crew supporting forest restoration and fuels reduction projects across the Northern Blue Mountains. The Project Manager will supervise a three-person crew conducting unit layout, data collection, and other forestry fieldwork in collaboration with federal, state, Tribal, and private partners. This program expands local stewardship capacity, provides hands-on workforce development opportunities, and supports cross-boundary restoration efforts. The Project Manager will oversee training, safety, and crew performance; track progress and data; and ensure high-quality completion of field tasks. Work includes timber cruising, timber sale layout, fuels reduction unit layout, stand exams, GPS mapping, data collection, and other stewardship activities. Overnight travel and fieldwork in variable conditions are required.
The Project Manager will also help design and grow the Forest Stewardship Crew program. Responsibilities include coordinating with Forest Service staff and other partners to identify and prepare project work, plan logistics, and ensure effective crew deployment. As part of WR’s workforce development mission, the Project Manager will provide learning opportunities that help crew members gain the skills and experience needed for careers in forestry and natural resources.

Environment and Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hike and navigate difficult terrain in inclement, hot, or smoky weather; use electronic devices such as computers, tablets, phones, GPS, or data collectors; and will occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Hours: Typical office hours are full time from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday (4, 10 hour days). The incumbent may be required to work extended hours and travel on non-work days. This includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
