Job Title: Inventory Forestry Technician (Seasonal and Full-time positions)

DJM Ecological Services is looking for 2-4 employees to help conduct timber inventory across federal and private lands with a focus on the Mississippi River Floodplains and the Midwest. This is a full-time 100% travel position with an emphasis on data accuracy and field production.
Once hired, duties will include conducting variable and fixed radius timber inventory plots using standard timber cruising protocols set by the USACE and USFS. Work will require collecting GPS points, species, DBH, height, canopy class, canopy cover percentages, vegetation information, micro/nested plots for regeneration, and collecting tree cores for site tree data. The use of a 10 BAF Cruz-all will determine tally trees on variable radius plots. Borderline trees will require limiting distances to be taken to determine tally trees. All data will be recorded electronically and submitted to the field supervisor daily for quality assurance. All duties will be discussed and demonstrated while on the job training is conducted. DJM will conduct on the job training needed to complete work successfully and allow you to meet daily field production rates. DJM will pay any costs associated with acquiring certifications required to conduct various field work.
All expenses related to this position will be covered by DJM. This will include lodging, transportation, all necessary measurement equipment, and daily food stipends. This position is expected to have +/- 50 hours per week with overtime paid by DJM.
Full-time employees will receive company benefits after 90-day probationary period. Typical 1st year salary of $45,000-$55,000/year. After 90 days, employees receive company paid benefits including fully paid health insurance with options for dental/vision covered by employee, 401K with company match @ 4%, paid vacation (5 days), paid holidays (6 days), maternity/paternity leave. We offer flexible, task specific, scheduling to ensure the right candidates maintain a high quality of life. DJM pays all travel expenses including lodging and food, provides transportation for work requiring travel, and all equipment/supplies required to perform duties as assigned. Typical hours are 50+/- per week during the summer and fall (May-Oct) with time and a half overtime pay after 40 hours and 40+/- hours during late winter and early spring.
