AWID is a global, feminist, membership, movement-support organization. Our mission is to support feminist, women’s rights, and gender justice movements to thrive, to be a driving force in challenging systems of oppression, and to co-create feminist realities. We currently have 35+ staff members based in 20+ different countries.
The position and profile
The AWID 15th International Forum (AWID Forum), to be held in December 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand, is the world’s largest event that wholeheartedly centers feminist and gender justice movements in all their diversity. It is a transformative space created by and for the movements. We hope to gather 2,500 in-person and 3,000 online/hybrid participants to network, build alliances, celebrate, and learn in a stimulating, emotive and safe atmosphere.
AWID is committed to making the Forum as accessible as possible. The Forum Access Fund is designed to support feminist activists who are generally excluded from access to international spaces and global solidarity: both differently abled and abled, women, and gender-diverse human rights defenders.
The Forum Access Fund Lead works under the supervision of the Forum Deputy Director and is responsible for providing support in the logistical planning, implementation and evaluation of the Forum, including working closely with external contractors and ensuring that Forum participants supported by the Access Fund (estimated at over 1,000) have the information and support they need to travel, register and be part of this flagship event.
This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time role within AWID’s Forum Team.
We are looking for someone who is able to multitask calmly under pressure, has an appreciation for, and experience supporting a wide range of accessibility needs, enjoys finding creative solutions to interesting accessibility problems and is willing to take on new challenges.
As the right candidate, you will be understanding of AWID’s feminist values and ways of working, and be sensitive to upholding them in the way you take up the responsibilities of the role. You will also be familiar with regional and global realities of feminist movements, and the political and logistical aspects of creating safer, welcoming and accessible spaces to a diversity of constituencies. You will be willing to continuously expand your knowledge about diverse accessibility needs and solutions.
Successful applicants should be able to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with diverse stakeholders and have excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies.
