Senegal Salary: XOF 48,851,781 + additional 10% pension contribution, international health cover, and attractive holiday allowances (see full list of benefits below)

DRC Salary: $ (USD)104,129 + additional 10% pension contribution, international health cover, and attractive holiday allowances (see full list of benefits below)

About the Role:

The Regional Manager for Francophone Africa’s role is a unique opportunity to bring about reforms in the governance of natural resources through the delivery of impactful programs and contribute to lasting public benefit to citizens. The regional manager will be a critical resource in coordinating strategic programs across Francophone Africa including building innovative and impactful initiatives, overseeing program and team management, navigating complex political contexts and building meaningful relationships with stakeholders including governments, CSOs and donors.

The job holder will have a key focus on Francophone African countries (Senegal, DRC and Guinea), by leading the country teams to define and implement strategic reform agendas, which includes identifying the right agents of change, engaging strategically with prominent leaders, influencing policy and adoption of leading practices. S/he will oversee the design and implementation of country strategies, manage NRGI’s country managers, the Chief of Party for the USAID TRACES program and Senior Officers on country programs in Francophone Africa. S/he will provide managerial and technical oversight and ensure the successful execution of impactful programs. S/he will lead the drafting of reports, that capture lessons learned from our engagements and the changing political context to inform our work at the regional and global levels.

With a strong background in people and program management and extractive sector governance, s/he will support impactful, innovative programming through excellent high-level program coordination and proper allocation of resources in line with donor grant requirements. The role will require strong results orientation and attention to detail, highly developed skills in people management, prioritization to manage diverse and complex portfolios, and communication and relationship skills to engage colleagues and a broad range of global, national, and local level stakeholders in Africa. The job holder will work in concert with the Regional Manager for Anglophone Africa to advance fundraising, learning, advocacy, monitoring, and impactful communication of the Africa program.

Education & Qualifications

Postgraduate degree in a relevant field (political science, economics, law, international development, development studies or social science)

This role might be for you if have…

  • Minimum 5 years’ directly relevant work experience in policy research or analysis related to mining, ideally with a focus on transition minerals
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills, including experience synthesizing data sets from multiple sources, and guiding strategic analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience working with governmental and non-state actors on development policy issues in Latin America.
  • Effective in multi-cultural settings
  • Experience translating strategy into project and research design; ability to think conceptually and strategically within a 2–3-year horizon.
  • Broad understanding of the natural resource governance sector and the complex ecosystem that results in resource-rich countries failing to achieve sustainable development.
  • Experience working in a complex or pioneering environment, including supporting and developing opportunities for systemic change.
  • Excellent Spanish language skills, both written and spoken; proficient in English
