The Freelance Finance Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive financial oversight for the organization, ensuring the efficient management of resources and adherence to budgetary guidelines. This role involves tracking expenditures, preparing financial reports, managing payroll, and supporting financial planning and analysis for ongoing projects. The Finance Officer will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and offering strategic insights that help drive the company’s financial decisions and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Financial Recordkeeping & Transaction Management
- Record and organize all financial transactions with accuracy and timeliness.
- Reconcile bank statements and accounts regularly to ensure alignment and identify discrepancies.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, payments, and collections.
Budgeting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare financial reports such as the Balance Sheet and Income Statement to support decision-making.
- Track budget adherence, monitor expenses, and report variances for informed financial planning.
- Analyze spending patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend adjustments.
Payroll Processing
- Process payroll accurately, ensuring employee compensation and tax withholdings are correct.
- Maintain detailed payroll records and promptly address payroll inquiries.
- Stay current on payroll regulations to ensure all compensation complies with legal standards.
Data Maintenance & Process Improvement
- Regularly update, secure, and back up financial data for organized record-keeping.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency in data entry and reporting.
- Collaborate across departments to streamline financial processes and enhance data accuracy.
Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial and payroll regulations.
- Prepare for audits by organizing and maintaining clear financial documentation.
- Assist auditors by providing documentation, clarifying entries, and supporting overall audit transparency.
Education & Experience
- 5 years in bookkeeping or accounting, with practical experience in financial data entry, reconciliation, and payroll processing.
- Associate’s degree in accounting or finance preferred; bachelor’s degree and bookkeeping/accounting software certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, QuickBooks) advantageous.
- Skilled in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero), strong in Excel or Google Sheets, and knowledgeable in double-entry bookkeeping and compliance with financial regulations.
