Humanitarian Data Solutions

tendersglobal.net

About Us:

We are a data literacy partner to large NGOs, small local organisations, faith-based organisations, for-profit social enterprises, humanitarian actors, and international companies, dedicated to equipping humanitarian and aid workers worldwide with essential data skills and software proficiency. We specialise in delivering training packages that are tailored to the humanitarian sector on the subjects of responsible data management, survey and form design, spreadsheet proficiency, dashboard creation, and map-making.

We are committed to providing relevant and accessible educational materials to our clients as well as the broader humanitarian sector. Through a mix of YouTube tutorials, free downloads, webinars, and donor-funded collaborations, we try to make vital training available to everyone who wants and needs it.

Roles:

We’re seeking up to 3 dynamic trainers to conduct weekly virtual (online, Zoom) sessions, provide comprehensive support to our students and record short YouTube tutorials covering the following core software platforms/key concepts:

  • KoboToolbox
  • PowerBI
  • Data Protection

The positions will be freelance and payment will be made through .

Tutors should be excellent and experienced users of the software packages or have expert knowledge in the subject matter they want to tutor on. Showing evidence of ‘intermediate-to-advanced’ skill level in the software is suggested as part of your application.

However, you don’t have to know everything, and we’d prefer people who can ‘figure anything out’ rather than people who ‘already know it all’.

Tutors who are ongoing learners are our preference (as there are always new features being developed anyway)!

How Our Training Works:

Students enrol in structured training programs featuring a blend of video lessons and assignments. Additionally, they attend a one-hour live tutorial via Zoom each week, led by our tutors. During these sessions, tutors deliver brief tutorials and address any challenges or questions students encounter.

Our online forum, which is text-based questions and answers, serves as another avenue for student queries and peer support. Tutors will provide feedback to student questions within 24 hours of questions being posted.

Students submit assignments on a rolling basis and tutors should review and provide feedback within one week of assignments being submitted.

Aligned with our commitment to offering high-quality, free educational content, tutors capture one short video tutorial monthly on a predetermined topic, which we will edit and share on our YouTube channel and website.

While topics for live and recorded tutorials are defined ahead of time, tutors’ collaboration and input are highly valued and will be taken into account when deciding topics.

What we need from you:

  • Proficiency in at least one of our core software platforms or key training concepts (KoboToolbox, PowerBI, Data Protection)
  • Prior experience in training or coaching, with a skill for delivering engaging online instruction
  • Knowledge and experience of the humanitarian sector
  • Availability for one hour of tutoring per software per week live on Zoom (this time will be decided with you, on a consistent day and time that you can commit to weekly),
  • Up to 1.5 hour of additional time weekly, for assignment grading, student support on the forum, liaising with other tutors, and a monthly recorded video tutorial (this time is completely flexible and can be done whenever suits you best.)
  • A willingness to provide some additional ad-hoc consultancy support on an hourly basis to our partner organisations, within the tutors skillset/area of expertise.
