Role Purpose

Immerse young minds in the world of English with the British Council’s exciting venture! We’ve secured a contract to provide over 1000 hours every week of English lessons to bright-eyed primary school children in Uruguay, aged around 9 to 11 years old.

The focus of the Remote Teacher of English then, is to deliver high quality English lessons in accordance with the British Council and other partner-specific standards, through:

  • Delivery of synchronous classes from our remote teaching centre in Buenos Aires.
  • Coordination with classroom teacher and asynchronous activities and feedback trough the available platforms.

Main Accountabilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language lessons that meet the needs of Ceibal en ingls, taking into account individual learning and teaching styles, and quality requirements from the respective program.
  • Teach a number of lessons per week in accordance with the teachers availability, taking responsibility for the effective delivery of the allocated courses.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy. Feedback in CREA platform is expected to be completed up to 24 hs before each lesson.
  • Comply with changing adjustments as may arise during the academic year according to the clients and / or British Council requirements.
  • Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain the British Councils position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
  • Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students understanding of contemporary UK.
  • Support local marketing and promotional strategy and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ensure safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas: Child protection and safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Health and safety

Requirements

  • 2 years post-certificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity Cert (120hs + practicum) or equivalent TESOL experience
  • Experience in teaching:
    • Primary students (aged 6 to 10) and /or
    • Lower Secondary students (aged 11 to 14) and /or
    • University/Vocational students (aged 18 to 25) and /or Adults General English 18+
  • High level of proficiency in English (C1 or above)
  • Cambridge CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL (120hs + practicum)
  • Delta Modules (desirable)
  • First degree/BA in Education, ELT, or equivalentteaching dregree
