Lakeside Arts is the University of Nottingham’s public arts provision with a year-round programme of exhibitions, live performances, festivals, workshops, talks and lectures open to everyone, including University staff, students and members of the public.
Whilst Lakeside has an increasingly diverse programme, we need to work harder to ensure that our audiences and our team are more reflective of the artists we engage and the community we want to serve. Lakeside reflects the University’s values of Ambition, Openness, Inclusivity, Fairness and Respect and we welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs which are fundamental to our values and enrich everyone’s lives. We particularly welcome and encourage applications from candidates who are currently under-represented in the creative sectors.
Based in the beautiful surroundings of Highfields and University Park, Lakeside Arts has two popular cafes and a shop including crafts by local and national makers. The programme attracts over 200,000 visitors annually not including café visitors: www.lakesidearts.org.uk
We are recruiting for a Front of House Duty Manager to join our busy and dynamic Front of House team to manage public events and oversee our gallery spaces, lead teams of ushers and invigilators, assist in the installation of exhibitions, and ensure the successful delivery of Lakeside’s own diverse programme as well as private hire events. The successful applicant will collaborate with a broad range of colleagues to provide effective and professional customer service and public safety, deal appropriately with incoming enquiries and feedback, be responsible for the safe and efficient running of publicly-open facilities across Lakeside’s venues, and provide administrative support for customer-facing operations across Lakeside.
Managed by Lakeside’s Front of House Manager, the successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able work both as part of a team and to lead – presenting information, acting on their own initiative, making decisions, and being responsible for solving problems in high-pressure situations, have an interest in and enthusiasm for arts, heritage and culture, and have experience of managing live events and/or public facilities.
This is a permanent, part-time position involving variable hours, including daytime and evening shifts as necessary. The position is contracted at 20 hours per week, with any variation from that balanced out as time off in lieu, with all rotas arranged and agreed by the team in advance.
Our university is a supportive, inclusive, caring and positive community. We welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus.
