We’re looking for a fellow vegan software developer/engineer to collaborate with our dedicated team (we’re based in Tempe Arizona ☀️, but this role starts as part-time remote): LeafSide is a growing company, offering innovative 100% whole-food plant-based (WFPB, vegan) meal packs. Our mission is to make healthy, nutritionally-optimal ✅, whole-food plant-based eating so easy and enjoyable, that it becomes a societal norm.

In particular, we’re looking for someone passionate about contributing and growing their software development / engineering skills as a full-stack web developer, ideally with at least some education in computer science (e.g. basic algorithms and big-O understanding), and expertise in at least one powerful general language such as Lisp (or Haskell, Erlang, Clojure, Go), along with at least fluency in a “daily use” language like Python or JavaScript.  Our current stack uses WordPress, WooCommerce, PHP, and JavaScript — however we’re technology pragmatists and always looking to improve.

Qualifications

• This position is suitable for software professionals with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Required experience is in full-stack web development: from SQL data models and schemas, to server-side languages and scripting, to JavaScript / HTML / CSS. Significant experience in WordPress & WooCommerce is required.
• Interest in, and at least basic knowledge of, software engineering processes and tools, e.g. git version control, test driven development (TDD), code review, etc to ensure long-term quality.
• Education, minimum requirements: an Associate’s Degree or higher, in CS; or equivalent self-education and work experience.
• Strong communication skills are important: writing must be consistently clear, while verbal and presentation skills should be at least proficient.
• The ability to self-manage technical projects and tasks to completion: to learn new knowledge and skills quickly, and recruit/manage other resources as needed.
• Curiosity and the growth-mindset: Constant learning and improvement is core to our company culture, and is expected of anyone in this role as well.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Work with senior staff to plan and execute key technical initiatives, directly improving the effectiveness of our ecommerce system, marketing systems, and overall customer experience.
