About Women & Children First

Women & Children First (WACF) is a community-based organisation providing crisis accommodation and wraparound care for women and children experiencing domestic and family violence and abuse as well as parenting and relationship education and prevention programs.

Our two women and children’s refuges and specialist support services are based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore.

Our programs prioritise:

  • Safety – Providing immediate and ongoing safety through crisis housing and trauma-informed case management and wraparound care.
  • Empowerment – Empowering survivors to heal and rebuild through psycho-education programs on healthy relationships, parenting, and wellbeing.
  • Prevention – Advocating for change and breaking the cycle of abuse through community and political engagement and education.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Head of Fundraising & Communications, this newly created role has been designed to support the growth of our programs and services by helping us expand our reach and diversify and grow fundraising income.

As the Fundraising & Marketing Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of high performing fundraising appeals, campaigns, and events. A key part of your role will include the identification, engagement and stewardship of relationships with a diverse range of supporters, with a focus on cultivating partnerships with businesses and community groups.

This is a dynamic role where you’ll blend creativity and data-driven insights to inform communications that amplify our impact. This includes supporting the Head of Fundraising & Communications with content creation and crafting compelling narratives and visuals that underpin our campaigns and communications; alongside this, using metrics and trends to analyse the performance of fundraising activities with insights used to inform strategic decisions and future campaigns.

  • Are passionate about fundraising, specifically raising funds that support women and children experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

Responsibilities of role:

  • Planning, coordinating and delivering appeals, campaigns and events in alignment with WACF’s fundraising strategy.
  • Creating and managing content for the website and WACF social media channels.
  • Managing social media platforms including running paid campaigns through Meta and Google (sometimes with support from specialist suppliers).
  • Identifying, building, and nurturing relationships with supporters and suppliers to achieve fundraising objectives.
  • Building new and long-term partnerships with businesses and community groups.
  • Development and implementation of donor care initiatives.
  • Supporting with grant writing when needed.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate data/records including relevant reports and analytics.
  • Managing and analysing supporter data with a keen focus on maintaining excellent data hygiene practices as well as uncovering and understanding trends within the supporter base.
  • Identifying growth opportunities and contributing to strategic planning for each appeal/campaign/event to support fundraising objectives.
  • Assisting in identifying new fundraising and sponsorship opportunities that will grow income and increase community engagement.

Skills and experience required

  • 5+ years relevant experience in a marketing or fundraising role in-house or within an agency.
  • Formal qualifications and/or experience in marketing, communications, and/or fundraising.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital marketing.
  • Experience using design tools such as Canva as well as marketing automation tools such as Campaign Monitor.
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and/or fundraising principles will be highly regarded.
  • Experience creating content and developing and executing campaigns.
  • Solid event and project management experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, research and writing skills, with the ability to interpret, synthesise and communicate information in a compelling and succinct form.
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) databases.
  • Familiarity with web design and content management systems (CMS).

Other requirements:

  • Must live in or be able to easily travel to the Northern Beaches.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Current Working with Children Check and National Police check.
