About Amani Orphans and Widows Welfare Services Inc – Mission and Objectives:

Amani Orphans and Widows is a national non governmental, not for profit making, non-partisan and non-religious organization established by likeminded South Sudanese nationals in Australia in 2014 in the aftermath of the South Sudan 2013 civil war, to address the socio-economic challenges faced by indigent women (widows and their children) and vulnerable communities.

Amani Orphans and Widows Welfare Services Inc was officially incorporated in March 2018 by the Western Australia Government. Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (Consumer Protection) – IARN: A1024146G and then registered in July 2018 by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission – ABN: 99821785872 and in South Sudan by the RRC – 5103.

Amani Orphans and Widows’ work is aligned with the Global Agenda – the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and guided by the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), the Maputo Protocol on The Rights of Women in Africa, African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).

About the Role

The Fundraising, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Volunteer is set to joins us at a critical juncture. Our growth in the next 3 years will hinge on our ability to mobilize resources and build strategic partnerships with bi-laterals, INGOs, multilaterals, private and governments for the scaling of our programs in addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by indigent women (widows and their children) and vulnerable communities.

The Fundraising, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Volunteer will be responsible for raising institutional and philanthropic funds to achieve our strategy, as well as implementing organizational-level initiatives for Results-Based Financing (RBF), and Public-Private partnerships (PPP) with the private sector and government. Under the direct supervision of Funding and Partnership Lead, the Partnership and Resource Mobilization – Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Partner Identification & Mapping

  • Contribute to development of a clear framework on identification of local partners/organizations, and maintain clear, accessible documentation of identified organizations.
  • Prioritize engagement with local partners/potential partners and lay the groundwork for long-term relationships with partners,
  • Monitor major donor trends (policies, strategic directions, etc.) and funding opportunities through regular research and monitoring of information on relevant websites and/or other sources.
  • Coordinate and ensure the effective startup of partnership, including sub-grants opening meetings and closeout meetings with partners, programs
  • Perform various tasks pertaining to external relations with humanitarian and private sector partnership.
  • Organize and lead grant opening meetings with the participation of program and support departments to develop a common understanding of the programmatic, operational, and financial aspects of a new grant as well as knowledge of our contractual requirements;
  • Support the Funding and Partnership and Executive Director in strategically engaging with donors and other stakeholders
  • Assisting in building relations and increase visibility of Amani Orphans and Widows Welfare Services Inc among both donors, private sector, partners, INGOs and other key stakeholders
  • Assists the Funding and Partnership Lead in innovative financing, mobilizing resources and partnerships in support of Amani Orphans and Widows Mandate and Programming.
  • Achieve Fresh Life’s ambitious grant fundraising targets through partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to align fundraising strategies with organizational goals.
  • Lead strategy for all aspects of donor relationships, including conducting baseline prospect identification and research, preparation of proposals, solicitation, closure, and stewardship.
  • Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with grant makers, foundations, government agencies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Drive the implementation of Results-Based Financing (RBF), and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with the government.
  • Network with potential donors and partners to enhance funding opportunities.
  • Manage and inspire a high-performing business development team.
  • Represent Amani Orphans and Widows externally with funders, private, government, and other key stakeholders.
  • Enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of business development processes, including proposal development, partnership management, financial reporting, etc.

Qualifications

  • Degree in International Development, Economics, Project Management, or equivalent preferred.
  • A genuine passion for Amani Orphans and Widow’s mission and effectively conveying its importance to potential donors and partners.
  • Project Management: Effective organization and management skills are crucial for planning, executing, and leveraging strategic fundraising opportunities and campaigns.
  • Impeccable integrity and ethics.
  • An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills and a willingness to share information, required fluency in English.
  • Inspiring leader for the team and the organization in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Able to work with local and international partners and the private sector.
  • Experience in Project cycle management using results frameworks and/ or logical frameworks
  • Enjoys and is good at liaison, building relations and networking.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with experience in engaging with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Flexible, pro-active, initiative-taking, and good at coordinating and organizing own work as well as that of the team, while managing several processes at a time. This should be combined with a strong attention to detail.
