This full-time, 11.5-month fellowship runs from August 18, 2025, to July 31, 2026, and is based at public elementary schools in San Francisco and San Mateo County. Multiple positions are available.

The Impact You’ll Make

As a CCEO Fellow, you will:

• Prepare for and teach engaging, hands-on garden and science lessons to K-5 students.
• Adapt and implement the established CCEO curriculum for your school site.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate students’ indoor with outdoor learning experiences.
• Maintain and cultivate a vibrant school garden that serves as the outdoor classroom.
• Foster environmental stewardship and curiosity in young learners.
• Build relationships with teachers, parents, and community members to expand the program’s impact.
• Grow your teaching, gardening, and leadership skills through extensive training and professional development.
• Track and maintain accurate records of student attendance, lesson completion, volunteer engagement, and assessment data to support program outcomes and grant reporting.

What You Bring

We’re looking for candidates who:

• Have at least 3 months of teaching or youth engagement experience.
• Are passionate about environmental education and working with diverse communities.
• Are adaptable, creative, and excited to teach outdoors in a public school during all seasons.
• Have or are willing to develop gardening skills.
• Are committed to social justice and equity in education.
• Spanish or Chinese language skills are a plus.
• Reside in the Bay Area by August 4, 2025.
• Ability to attend a two-week orientation, as well as bi-monthly or monthly training from September to June, with reimbursable travel to training locations in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
• Fellows must have reliable transportation to their work sites and CCEO events.
• This role is physically active and requires frequent bending, stooping, and stretching, as well as manual dexterity to operate garden tools, a keyboard, and other office equipment.
• Fellows should also have the ability to communicate effectively and maintain accurate data records.

What We Provide

• Living stipend: $3,179.50/month (pre-tax).
• Education award: Up to $10,000 upon successful program completion (pre-tax).
• 100% healthcare coverage (Kaiser Silver, all premiums covered by SEI).
• 100+ hours of training and professional development.
• A minimum of three scheduled breaks on Thanksgiving, Winter break (two weeks), and Spring; and at least six observed holidays, in alignment with your site’s school calendar.
• Member Assistance Program (MAP), which provides free telehealth counseling services.
• Meaningful connections and hands-on experience in environmental education.

About Climate Corps Education Outside (CCEO)

​Climate Corps Education Outside (CCEO) advances science education and environmental literacy in public elementary schools by bringing student learning to the outdoor classroom. ​Our program:

• Sparks children’s interest in science & connects them to the natural world through consistent, NGSS-aligned lessons in school gardens.
• Provides partner schools with a dedicated AmeriCorps Fellow to serve at their single school site for the school year to steward the outdoor classroom.
• Trains passionate emerging environmental educators to execute inquiry-based science learning, using the school campus as a learning laboratory.
