UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Un Women works with governments and civil society to design and implement laws, policies, programmes and services to enable women and girls to claim their rights and expand their opportunities. UN Women is committed to a focus on integrated approaches to address the root causes of inequality and affect broader systems change.
UN Women Colombia, with its triple mandate, has made significant progress in matters of humanitarian emergency response, coordination, and compliance with international standards for the protection of women and girls. It consistently and cohesively implements actions in response to humanitarian crises, based on common humanitarian principles, to favor appropriate actions in the field.
In Nariño, gender and humanitarian action projects are focused on generating attitudinal changes towards norms that perpetuate gender-based violence (GBV); empowering local and/or regional women’s organizations in response to, mitigation of, and prevention of GBV and humanitarian response; access to multisectoral services (including legal assistance); providing opportunities to strengthen the livelihoods of women and girls survivors or at risk of GBV; and strengthening service delivery through protection and empowerment centers. Similarly, the formulation of new initiatives is required to strengthen UN Women’s actions in the development of its humanitarian mandate.
As Gender and Humanitarian Action Associate you support UN Women as follows:
Support the development of various programmatic and advocacy activities to improve access to institutional and community protection mechanisms for women and girls victims of armed conflict and human mobility.
Accompany the development of activities, ensuring the application of gender, ethnic, age, migration, and intersectional approaches.
Develop agendas, methodologies, minutes, and meeting reports for various spaces as required, both at the national and binational levels.
Contribute to dialogue and coordination with various civil society organizations, especially those representing migrant women, victims of armed conflict, and host communities.
Assist in the management of gender-based violence (GBV) alert information in the department of Nariño, with special emphasis on the Pacific and border regions.
Etc.
