UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Un Women works with governments and civil society to design and implement laws, policies, programmes and services to enable women and girls to claim their rights and expand their opportunities. UN Women Lebanon currently works in the areas of Women’s Economic Empowerment; Women’s Political Participation; Women, Peace and Security; Masculinities and Social Norms; And Women’s Political Participation in line with the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

Through its interventions, UN Women aims to fully engage women in political institutions and processes and to provide them with means to access decent work and income security. It also seeks to guarantee women’s participation in decision-making, at the household and community levels, and in peace and security commitments, so that women may participate equally in the socio-economic development of Lebanon.  

 

As Gender Equality Programme Analyst you support UN Women as follows: 

  • Assist in developing knowledge products on issues of women’s rights, gender equality, gender legislation and policy, gender-based violence and access to justice, and unpaid care work;
  • Participate in developing project and intervention summaries with a focus on both protection and gender equality aspects;
  • Assist in conducting research on new areas of engagement and in developing concept notes to support resource mobilization;
  • Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting to donors and to UN Women at outcome and impact level;
  • Provide inputs to communications products to promote learning and impact from interventions;
  • Etc.

 

Part of the Talent programme “Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank“, this position is sponsored by the Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid. Skills required

For the programme: 

  • Swiss nationality;
  • Master’s degree;
  • Ideally 12 months of relevant professional experience (min. 3 months – max. 24 months);
  • Max. 28 years old at the date of application;
  • Excellent command of English and 2 official Swiss languages (one active = C1/C2, one passive = A2/B1);
  • Proven interest in joining the international cooperation sector;
  • For this position: Driving license.

 

For this position:  

  • Master’s degree in human rights, gender and women’s studies, international relations, sociology, international development, international law or other social science fields;
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in: Gender equality and women’s rights;
  • Monitoring and evaluation (using qualitative and quantitative methodologies);
  • Analytical writing and research; writing strategy documents and project/programme reports;
  • Developing knowledge products on issues of women’s rights, gender equality, gender legislation and policy, gender-based violence and access to justice, and unpaid care work;
  • working in partnership with NGOs and civil society organisations;
  • Fluent in English, Arabic desired.

Application deadline: 10 April 2024 

First round of interviews carried out by cinfo: between 29 April and 07 May 2024 

Final selection: will be made by the host organisation based on cinfo’s recommendation and an interview with them. Selected candidates will be informed around mid-June. 

Onboarding and training: The onboarding process will start after the selection. Selected candidates will have to attend mandatory predeparture training in Biel at the beginning of August.  

Entry on duty: Departure is possible after the training, i.e. from around August 8, 2024. The final departure date will be discussed after the selection and depends on several factors.
