UN Women Philippines office is implementing its Country Programme Strategy 2024 – 2025 derived from the newly signed United Nations Philippines Sustainabile Development Cooperation Framework 2024 – 2028. The vision is to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls and the full enjoyment of their human rights in the Philippines, aligned to the aspirations of the Philippine Development Plan and the UNSDCF. To accomplish this, we work with our partners across the Philippines to implement targeted programmes that support women, peace and security, women’s economic empowerment, women’s leadership and participation, ending violance against women, humanitarian/DRR and climate change issues.
The scope of work of the Gender in Humanitarian and DRR Coordination Analyst is to advance on Gender in Humanitarian Action in the Philippines through coordination and programmatic synergies with UN agencies and humanitarian partners for greater impact in the lives of women and girls.
Under the supervision of the Country Programme Coordinator, the Gender in Humanitarian and DRR Analyst is expected to engage proactively with humanitarian partners and women civil society organizations, other UN agencies and ROAP Humanitarian Action and DRR team. The role contributes to the effective coordination of gender issues within the humanitarian and DRR work in the country. She/he works in close collaboration with the GiHA Working Group co-chairs, clusters, other agencies and NGOs, and UN Women programme and operations team to ensure successful gender mainstreaming.
The position requires experience and an in-depth understanding of gender equality, and humanitarian issues to translate UN Women’s strategic plan and regional humanitarian strategy into effective programmes and results. It also requires the provision of gender in humanitarian action programming support to humanitarian actors, UN organizations, and CSOs in the Philippines. The identification of partnerships at national levels, as well as donors and resource mobilization opportunities, is equally critical.
