Job Description:
With oversight from Nadia’s Initiative’s Projects Manager and Gender Specialist, the Gender Specialist Assistant will contribute on providing backstopping and hands-on technical supervision and support for mainstreaming gender equality and women empowerment throughout livelihoods and economic reintegration, and Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) activities to support the socio-economic reintegration of vulnerable returnees, survivors, and community members in Al Qataniyah, Ba’aj, Ninewa.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advice and support to the Project Team to ensure that all project activities are implemented with gender sensitive and protection-integrated approaches, with the needs of women, girls, boys and men considered
- Support gender-sensitive strategies and Initiatives; assist in the development and implementation of gender-sensitive strategies across NI projects and programs.
- Assist in conducting gender analyses and assessments to identify needs, and opportunities for gender mainstreaming, and help in collecting relevant data and contribute to the analysis process.
- Support staff and partners by providing technical guidance on integrating gender considerations into project design, implementation, and monitoring.
- Assist in organizing and delivering training sessions on gender equality and related topics.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of gender mainstreaming efforts.
- Help identify lessons learned and contribute to best practices for continuous improvement to ensure NI’s compliance.
- Assist in establishing gender-focused networks and partnerships and contribute to research and analysis on gender issues, trends, and innovations.
- Work alongside the Gender Specialist to advocate for gender-responsive policies and practices within NI and with external stakeholders.
- Perform other duties, as required by the Projects Manager and Gender Specialist.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualifications Required:
- High school’s degree in in gender studies, women’s studies, sociology international development, or a related field.
- Fluency in Kurmanji and Arabic; some proficiency in English is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, or related areas, preferably in the context of humanitarian or development organizations.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct gender analyses and assessments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and facilitate training sessions and workshops.
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including local farmers, community organizations, and NGOs.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must not be currently under contract with any government entity. Individuals who have been on leave from a government entity for at least 5 years may be considered.
