General Counsel

We’re on the look-out for a General Counsel to work under the guidance of and reporting of the

Director General and the Deputy Director General.

SCOPE

• To promote, through ACI EUROPE, the interests of some 500 European airports to

legislators, regulators, the press and the public.

• To contribute to the well-functioning, the development, the evolution/transformation of ACI

EUROPE by ensuring the organisation’s compliance with all legal requirements and

procedures under Belgian law as well as the maintenance and compliance with its own

statutory & governance rules.

• To provide the best possible service to the members of ACI EUROPE, in particular as

regards the monitoring and provision of information and legal analysis service to members

in respect of certain European legislative, regulatory and co-ordinating bodies.

• To assist in the formulation of ACI EUROPE policy.

• To represent ACI EUROPE policies to European legislative and non-legislative bodies, and

to other international fora.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES

• Belgian legal background & 10-15 years of legal/corporate experience (corporate

lawyer) coupled with a good understanding & knowledge of EU affairs.

• Good understanding of Belgian corporate law and business practices.

• Genuine interest in civil aviation.

• Self-starter capable of judging when and how to take initiatives best suited for the

relevant legal & policy context.

• Highly developed communication, presentation and social skills, including the

ability to communicate in a multilingual and multicultural environment.

• Ability to originate and produce high quality, coherent, reasoned and convincing

written legal & policy materials.

• Ability to work in a Team, listen to others, foster compromise, convince and reach

consensus.

• Preferably French or Dutch native. Fluent in English both written and spoken.
