Job description
The General Manager is to consistently deliver results that contribute to the overall success of Uniting’s Mental Health Portfolio – Uniting Recovery. This involves accomplishing performance objectives aligned to improving business performance, utilising strategies that enhance quality of services to consumers, enhancing business effectiveness and optimising efficiencies.
The General manager will:
- Drive strategic growth and continuous improvement
- Lead multi- disciplinary teams in community mental health
The General Manger role is pivotal in outworking the Uniting Recovery business plan and coordinating key processes within the operations team, and will:
- Works closely with the Head of Department to translate business and strategic objectives into actionable work plans for their team(s)
- Takes responsibility for ensuring that their team(s) have the necessary resources and capability to deliver high quality work
- Understands industry trends and commercial implications and showcases an understanding of how department advice impacts on the other Directorates within Uniting.
- Provide consistent and visible leadership in promoting WH&S behaviours and actions, ensuring a safe working environment, and reinforcing proper training for staff to work safely
- Contributes to the development and evaluation of changes and improvements and ensures that changes support the viability of services delivered.
- Evaluate and implement innovative models of care.
Essential Criteria
Qualifications:
- Post graduate qualifications in business, finance and/or relevant to the Mental Health and Community Services sector
Experience:
- This is a management role, typically requiring 8 or more years’ experience, including 5 or more years’ experience supervising diverse teams
- Demonstrated understanding of evidenced based interventions and Individualised psychological and psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of consumers presenting with a variety of mental health concerns based on a case formulation approach
- Ability to lead and manage a range of diverse work areas and to provide appropriate feedback, performance management and adhere to all staff recruitment procedures
- Demonstrated capacity to allocate resources, set priorities and ensure budgets are met within the services to deliver strategic outcomes
- Demonstrated experience to develop/implement and deliver strategic business plans which increase the level of care to customers within a budget framework.
- Experience as a key contributor to the development of govt funded health or community service programs, including the development of costings models and analysis of finical aspects of tenders
- Proven track record of successful tender outcomes
- Work with internal governance teams to review contract terms and conditions / Contract management experience
- Significant experience building and developing key relationships with funding bodies, other government agencies and communities
- Demonstrated experience and ability to develop new service models and seek additional funding
