Youth Support + Advocacy Service (YSAS) is one of Australia’s largest and most comprehensive, youth specific community service organisation that enables young people experiencing serious disadvantage to access the resources and support they require to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

About the position

YSAS provides practical support and evidence-based clinical services for young people experiencing serious problems, and also intervenes as early as possible with those at risk to prevent problems from escalating and becoming entrenched. Services are run from 19 sites in metropolitan and regional Victoria. YSAS is the lead agency for headspace Frankston and Collingwood. The General Manager (GM) Community Services is responsible for the strategic leadership of service delivery in the region. Specialist Programs aim to support and meet the unique and specific needs of particular groups of young people. The programs vary from region to region, reflecting their communities and include.

  • AOD Community Programs
  • Mental health support including headspace Programs
  • Crime Prevention Programs

The role leads the people, operational and financial performance of YSAS services in the allocated region, building internal and external key stakeholder relationships and partnerships, ensuring compliance with contractual and legislative requirements, and building a strong culture of service delivery consistent with the YSAS values. The role may also require management of key portfolios relevant to the delivery of services.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive experience in managing a range of multidisciplinary health and/or welfare services, including responsibility for compliance with practice frameworks
  • Experience in service delivery for adolescents and young adults
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning, developing and implementing strategic solutions to service delivery challenges
  • Thorough understanding of the complexities in support, treatment and care of young people with mental health challenges and substance use problems
  • Extensive people leadership experience within complex service delivery
  • Deep understanding of leading and managing workplace safety and wellbeing
