Your Impact
You will be the driving force behind a transformative movement for human rights and press freedom. In this dynamic role, the General Manager will lead the charge in shaping The Information Rights Project’s strategic direction, fuelling growth and amplifying impact on a global scale.
The Organisation
The Information Rights Project’s (IRP) is a human rights charity dedicated to protecting and advocating for the rights to information and freedom of expression. Initially focused on supporting Australian journalist Julian Assange, the IRP now has a broader mission to defend and promote the rights of all Australians to access and share information without fear of reprisal.

The Role
As a strategic leader, with the power to inspire a passionate team, forge powerful partnerships and champion the rights of those who dare to speak truth to power, the General Manager will be at the forefront working towards a growth strategy while promoting collaboration, courage, support and innovation. Key objectives include-
- Provide leadership and direction in line with IRP’s vision, objectives and strategic goals
- Develop and implement innovative projects/programs and initiatives to promote growth
- Identify and advise on emerging issues and opportunities that support the mission
- Represent IRP in various forums to strengthen partnerships, networks & fundraising
- Manage the organisation’s finances and ensure compliance with financial regulations
Who are you?
You are a confident leader and with a passion for human rights, offering extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, where you have driven growth and impact. You will bring-
- An adaptable leadership style to inspire and manage a diverse specialist team
- The ability to develop and execute successful campaigns, advocate & interact in public forums
- A proven track record in developing and implementing policy, operations and innovative projects
- Capability in building and nurturing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
