Energy Consumers Australia (ECA) is a national voice for residential and small business energy consumers. Our mission is to promote the long-term interests of energy consumers with respect to price, quality, reliability, safety and security of supply, and to work with governments and other market bodies to ensure a fair transition to a carbon-free system.
ECA is a small team with high impact, offering opportunities to lead projects, shape organisational thinking, and grow new skills. ECA is seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager Operations to lead their day-to-day operations and support the organisation’s mission of empowering consumers in the energy market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all operational aspects of ECA, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of corporate services
- Manage corporate service functions including accounting/finance/ budgeting, risk management, human resources, governance and IT
- Provide leadership in setting the strategic direction of the organisation in collaboration with the CEO, Executive peers and the ECA Board
- Support the Board and CEO as Company Secretary and as a member of the executive management team
- Foster a positive and productive work culture that aligns with ECA’s values
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record of successful general management experience, preferably in the not-for-profit, government or corporate sectors
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams
- Excellent financial management and budgeting skills
- Proficient in risk management and compliance
- Experience or demonstrable interest in overseeing organisational HR, IT architecture, and/or company governance
- A ‘can-do’ attitude, initiative and a focus on performance improvement
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, or a related field
