Our commitment to person-centred, trauma-informed, and psychologically-informed care drives us to seek a dynamic, visionary leader for the role of General Manager of Youth. This is a permanent, full-time vacancy based out of Blackburn, Melbourne (although national applications will also be considered).
Reporting directly to the Head of Social Mission and with eight direct reports this role will be responsible for leading all of The Salvation Army’s specialist work with young people nationally. This includes driving innovation and service strategy, governance of service delivery, leadership and development of a national team (State Managers and specialists) and being a leading presence in the sector to promote and advocate the needs of young people while delivering best practice.
About you
- Qualification in social work, welfare, community development or related field with significant relevant experience, post graduate qualifications would be well regarded
- Senior Management experience in delivering youth / social / community services having lead multidisciplinary teams of scale nationally
- Experience in active membership in community or government bodies within the sector
- Excellent communicator with a clear vision that is able to lead and inspire as well as coach and mentor
- Strategic thinker with a passion for youth development and operational executioner
- Motivated to change the sector by influencing government policy and funding
- Values aligned and committed to ethical principles and professional standards practices
