Job description

Wanted: Experienced rural generalist GP who wants to make a difference in remote health AND have more downtime!

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (Congress) is rolling out an innovative approach to resourcing the new and well equipped Mparntwe Urgent Care Clinic in Alice Springs.

We’re offering flexible Fly-In, Fly-Out (FIFIO) blocks of work to be undertaken by a GP working as an independent contractor.

By allowing you to choose the time you have off, you’ll get the rare opportunity to achieve your ideal work/life balance while using your skills to improve health in remote Australia.

Clinic hours are 12-8pm Monday to Friday and 12-4pm weekends/public holidays.

There’s no nightshift or on-call.

The offer

Independent contract for rural generalist GP providing a 12-month commitment to minimum 12-day blocks, FIFO with your choice of time off from the following options:

Option 1: 12 days on (1 weekend and two weeks), 16 days off (three weekends and 2 weeks) – income for experienced rural GPs up to $350k annually which includes $50k combined WIP and rural generalist incentive.

Option 2: 12 days on (1 weekend and two weeks), 30 days off (five weekends and 4 weeks) – income for experienced rural GPs up to $250k annually which includes $50k combined WIP and rural generalist incentive.

Option 3: 12 days on (1 weekend and two weeks), 44 days off (seven weekends and 6 weeks) – income for experienced rural SPs up to $186k annually which includes $30k combined WIP and rural generalist incentive. *

* WIP incentives vary with duration of rural and remote experience and require 1 year of service with a minimum Medicare claim.

About the Clinic

The Mparntwe Urgent Care Clinic will improve the way health services are delivered in Alice Springs. Working in a state-of-the-art facility, you’ll help improve access to bulk-billed urgent care while reducing pressure on the busy hospital system, by providing patients with short term, episodic care for urgent conditions that are not immediately life threatening.

Put simply, you‘ll help people get the care they need when they need it.

The Mparntwe Urgent Care Clinic is operated by Congress on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. With over 50 years experience, Congress is the largest Aboriginal community controlled health service in the Northern Territory, a strong voice for Aboriginal people and a national leader in comprehensive primary healthcare.
