Description:
The general volunteer is a highly versatile and vital position for charities to continue providing their services and supporting refugees. Depending on the activities of the organisation you’ll join, and their current needs, you may participate in the running of a warehouse by sorting and organising clothes donations, managing distributions, and coordinating delivery. Alternatively, you may be asked to assist the charity by gathering donated items, organizing them, greeting the people coming to receive aid, and distributing clothing, food, and other essential supplies. Additionally, there is a chance to participate as a volunteer in the provision of psychosocial assistance through workshops.
For this position, it is necessary to have a minimum availability of 2 weeks.
Support and Collaboration:
You won’t be alone in this experience. You will receive support from the Volunteer Coordinator and the Field Coordinator of the hosting charity; as well as the support from the Indigo team by getting access to training and wellbeing support. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow volunteers, fostering a supportive and compassionate environment.
Accommodation is not given free of charge to general volunteers; however, it may be partially funded based on the duration of their stay.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Requirements:
The only prerequisites for this position are a strong drive and proficiency in the English language. Proficiency in logistics and the possession of a valid driving license are highly desirable, as well as proficiency in Arabic, Farsi, French, Greek, Kurdish, Somali, and/or Urdu.
