WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Geospatial Project Manager oversees Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the Connecticut Chapter and manages the successful execution of collaborative GIS projects, including one recently launched to assess where wildlife movement intersects with the state’s road network. 

In this position you will:

  • Produce maps and other graphic products to illustrate our work, provide decision support, tell stories, and express intersections of problems and solutions.
  • Collect ecological, social, environmental, and economic spatial data and create and maintain comprehensive spatial data for the CT Chapter.
  • Manage work plans and collaborate with TNC staff, partners, and consultants to secure deliverables on time and keep projects on track.
  • Manage budgets, requests for proposals, and contracts.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate online and in-person project team meetings and workshops with technical experts.
  • Design and produce advanced complex queries and analysis [spatial and other] of data from geographic and tabular source material.
  • Support and train staff on GIS tools and techniques.

This is a 2- year term position, with the possibility to extend contingent on performance and available funding. This position is based out of the New Haven, CT office with a hybrid schedule.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • B.S. degree and certification in related field and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing, managing, and implementing projects, and independently completing tasks to meet project timelines.
  • Experience in spatial data management, including metadata and documentation.
  • Experience designing and maintaining database structures to meet organizational needs.
  • Experience creating standardized cartographic map design and spatial data visualization products for static and dynamic (Internet-based) map applications.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other parties to obtain different data sources.
  • Experience maintaining collaborative partnerships.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of Geographic Information Systems (e.g., Esri ArcGIS Pro and extensions and ArcGIS Online) and working knowledge of relevant scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
  • Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, communication and collaboration tools, and Web Browsers.
  • Experience with image analysis, complex spatial analysis, data modeling and landscape scenario analysis.
  • Experience training individuals and groups

SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of  $77,000-83,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
