German Red Cross humanitarian surge roster – Anaesthesiologists

The German Red Cross (GRC) provides essential humanitarian support worldwide for people affected by crisis situations. Should the need for urgent deployment of delegates arise due to disasters or crises, GRC utilises its humanitarian surge roster (GRCReady) to alert and deploy qualified experts within 72 hours.

GRC is expanding the surge capacity of its Clinical Health Pool and welcomes applications from qualified, licensed anaesthesiologists who have the skills and expertise to be deployed as delegates in an emergency response anywhere in the world for a minimum of six weeks and up to three months.

The Anaesthesiologist Pool consists of practicing professionals who have the skills and expertise to be deployed as health delegates in an emergency response anywhere in the world for six weeks to three months.

As anaesthesiologist you will most likely work in an emergency hospital (WHO EMT type 2) with one or two surgical units. Working together with international and national health personnel is key. Your work will therefore likely include the supervision, mentoring and training of colleagues. Your duties as anaesthesiologist are similar to those in a regular hospital setting. Please note however, that the technical equipment, set-up of the medical facilities and the availability of drugs at your disposal may significantly differ from what you are accustomed to in your home country, even though they comply with international WHO standards.
