Description
The Amphibian and Reptile Conservation is seeking a Gila Project Coordinator as a full-time, onsite, offered for 1 year, with the possibility of extension. This position leads the implementation and progress of ARC’s on-the-ground conservation efforts in the Gila PARCA and nearby southwest projects. This position maintains a strong field presence and coordinates a wide range of restoration and monitoring activities with a wide network of partners to advance recovery actions for focal species. The Coordinator is responsible for operationalizing multi-year program goals, maintaining partner relationships, advancing and developing program strategy, ensuring compliance with permits and landowner agreements, and contributing to long-term recovery outcomes across priority watersheds.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Program Oversight & Implementation: Lead the operationalization of multi-year program goals, directing the progress and ensuring the successful completion of on-the-ground conservation, restoration, and monitoring activities within the Gila PARCA and nearby projects. Develop and compile SOPs for monitoring, workflows, restoration planning, and annual project cycles.
• Strategic Contribution: Advance and develop program strategy by identifying habitat corridors, connectivity opportunities, and contributing to long-term planning for recovery actions such as reintroduction and captive breeding efforts.
• External Coordination & Partnership: Serve as the primary on-the-ground contact for external partners, agencies, and recovery working groups to coordinate a wide range of activities and advance collaborative conservation efforts.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Access: Conduct professional outreach and networking to maintain and expand strong, effective relationships with private landowners, ranchers, and agency partners to facilitate survey access, restoration planning, and implementation.
• Internal Coordination: Coordinate with Southwest Program Coordinator, other ARC leadership, and team members to align fieldwork progress with program planning and documentation needs.
• Compliance & Documentation Oversight: Ensure full program compliance with all permits, landowner agreements, and partner stipulations, and oversee the maintenance and organization of field datasets, communication records, and project progress documentation.

Expectations / Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
• At least 2 years of field experience with wildlife monitoring, restoration, or invasive species management
• Ability to work independently in remote field settings and navigate rugged terrain
• Strong communication skills with agency staff, landowners, and partners
• Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain organized records
• Willingness to travel frequently, camp, and maintain a consistent field presence
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work long days in varied outdoor conditions
