Nevada Department of Wildlife is currently accepting applications for GIS Analyst 3. GIS Analysts are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of a department’s and/or division’s enterprise geographic information system.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The incumbent is responsible for designing, implementing, and administering the Department of Wildlife’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support wildlife conservation and habitat management efforts.The incumbent will supervise other Department GIS Professionals and functions as a project manager and technical expert. Duties include overseeing and coordinating geospatial projects and activities; coordinating with multiple departments to implement GIS solutions and manage data; developing and maintaining GIS databases; maintaining data management systems and managing geospatial data; collecting, processing, analyzing wildlife resource and habitat data; providing technical guidance and support on the use of GIS technologies used by Department staff; and providing GIS training.

The incumbent should possess a thorough knowledge of current GIS software and tools and spatial data management. They should be highly proficient in current skills, techniques, and methodologies commonly used in GIS, including, but not limited to, data management, database development, cartography, spatial analysis, task automation, scripting, and multi-user GIS editing workflows. They will serve as an expert resource to other GIS specialists and end users. Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise, servers, web development, and native application development is preferred but not required.
