GIS Analyst – Land Management

SAERI is looking to hire a GIS Analyst – Land Management

We’re seeking a GIS analyst, with an initial focus on applying GIS to support land management
and policy decision making. This role will involve taking forward a range of potential research
projects, depending on the interest and expertise of the successful candidate. Hence, this
position is an amazing opportunity to kick-start or continue your GIS career, and join a
dynamic research team in a stunning wildlife wonder spots.

The main accountabilities of the role are to:

• Develop and deliver a GIS based research project in the Falkland Islands (depending on
  interest and expertise of the successful candidate)
• Work closely with the governments of the Falkland Islands and St. Helena to analyse spatial
  data as required for policy and decision-making
• Lead on the implementation of SAERI’s input into the SELINA project work packages and tasks
  as outlined above, and prepare all SAERIs required input into project reporting.

Main essential criteria includes:

• Relevant university degree in GIS or related field
• Experience of spatial data analysis and remote sensing
• Experience of working with spatial datasets in software such as Quantum GIS or ESRI ArcGIS.
• An excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and be resourceful

This unique role is split between the Falkland Islands (9 months) and St Helena Island (9
months). This project is funded through SELINA. SELINA is a collaboration of experts from 50
partner organisations from all 27 EU member states, and Norway, Switzerland, Israel, and the
United Kingdom. SELINA’s vision is to “provide guidance for evidence-based decision-making that
supports the protection, restoration, and sustainable use of our environment.
