The Opportunity
We are looking for a GIS Consultant with 2-3 years post graduate experience, to join our GIS
Services Team. This is a permanent full-time position (subject to probation) with a salary of
£25,000-£29,000 per annum (depending on experience).
The position will be home based (in the UK) but it would be an advantage to live within
reasonable commuting distance of one of our four main offices (Oxford, Hathersage (Sheffield
area), Newport or Newcastle).
In this role you will assist in the management and analyses of spatial and ecological data
using GIS, and the production of cartographic and tabular output. Your work will ensure the
integrity and accuracy of data, the decision-making processes within the organization and the
production of professional outputs that support the work of our ecological team.

What we are looking for:
- 2-3 years + post graduate experience in GIS and data management, preferably within
ecological/environmental sector - An appropriate degree or equivalent in GIS, spatial analysis or a related discipline
- Experience of using QGIS and PostgreSQL/PostGIS database including understanding the basic
principles of good data quality and the management and analysis of data though the use of
SQL/python languages - Knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS products for the interpretation and presentation of data
- A good understanding and experience of integrating outputs from other drawing and
publishing packages commonly used in consultancy (such as CAD) into GIS. - Experience of being part of a team delivering GIS support in a consultancy environment,
ideally providing ecological outputs - The ability to identify and implement technical solutions in relation to GIS, spatial
analysis and data management - A demonstrable track record in dynamic workflow management and prioritising multiple tasks
- Confidence and a demonstrable track record in verbal and technical communication including
an ability to work with non-specialists to identify a brief and deliver a task - A proactive approach to all aspects of consultancy work.
