Binnies an RSK Group company is looking for a GIS Data Technician to join us as part of our @one Alliance.What will you be doing as our new Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Data Technician?As a member of our team, you’ll work collaboratively with the Digital Team, the wider Alliance and the wider digital community to drive innovation, collaboration, and efficiency through the use of digital technologies. You will be responsible for maintaining the GIS platform and data used within the Alliance, engaging with both external suppliers and internal users to deliver the best possible service to the end user.You’ll have the opportunity to learn how digital transformation delivers organisational change, contributing to a range of activities from early identification of emerging technologies, right through to embedding as BAU, and along with the wider digital team, your input will help directly shape the digital strategy, ensuring that the @one alliance achieves its efficiency targets through digital transformation and remains an industry leading collaborative alliance.Key Responsibilities:GIS data and systems maintenance:
- Regularly updating and maintaining our GIS datasets and create, update, and improve GIS data maintenance processes.
- Seeking out new datasets to support @one Alliance processes and searching out and implementing efficiencies in data maintenance processes.
- Carrying out data cleansing activities to ensure data quality standards are met. Working with other stakeholders to integrate other internal and external data sources.
- Working with other stakeholders to support in the integration of other internal and external systems.
- Working with our GIS suppliers to fix issues and raise tickets.
- Maintaining and updating GIS applications, in line with latest data sources and functionality, ensuring they continue to fulfil business needs.
GIS Analytics and insights:
- Supporting the Geospatial Team in the completion of GIS Analytics tasks.
- Supporting the Geospatial Team in the creation of visualisations to communicate GIS Analytic findings.
- Utilising system data to monitor, track, and communicate system usage metrics, supporting on the GIS strategy.
GIS user support and platform promotion:
- Completing ad hoc data extraction and ingestion requests for internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting on the development of streamlined processes for data and system access requests.
- Supporting the Geospatial Team in gathering and collating user feedback.
GIS Application Development and Innovation:
- Supporting the Geospatial Team in application development, assisting where necessary in the design, build, testing, and roll out phases.
- Research and explore new and innovative technologies, tools, and processes which drive efficiencies and improvements in data and system maintenance.
- Engaging with the wider industry to keep up to date with industry developments, highlighting to the Digital Team where innovations can be made to support the wider Alliance.
Team Support:
- Being a champion of digital change, supporting other team members in delivering digital transformations.
- Actively input into shaping the Alliance’s digital strategy.
- Supporting the digital team in it’s development of MVP’s, scrum methodology and ambitions for x3 capabilities
A little bit about your skills and experience:You will be degree educated, ideally in Geography or a Science, but all degrees considered. You’ll have a keen interest in emerging technologies and practical delivery. You’ll be experienced in using ESRI ArcGIS products, in particular ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.You’ll have a willingness to learn systems and config and a keen interest in the project life cycle.
