Job description

The project Strengthening the Rights-Based Approach in Civil Society Organisations promotes the human rights of vulnerable groups on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). On the one hand, civil society organizations are empowered with appropriate human and technical resources to carry out their mandate to implement the human rights-based approach. On the other hand, the project aims at improving the legal and political framework conditions for the protection of human rights and for the work of civil society organizations.

Your tasks

Advise and support LGBTIQ+ self-led interest groups and organisations on strengthening their organizational structures and processes through the integration of the human rights-based approach
Support capacity development in areas relevant to organisational development, including strategic and operational planning, project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and evidence-based advocacy
Provide guidance on how to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and engagement with key donors (past, present and future)
Train and support LGBTIQ+ self-led organisations to strengthen their capacities for advocacy with duty bearers at the micro-, meso- and macro level
Support movement building, conflict resolution and good partnership practices
Advise other project partners on LGBTIQ+ rights and on implementing LGBTIQ+ inclusion as outlined in the GIZ gender strategy

Your profile

University degree in law, human rights, gender studies, social sciences, or any other relevant field
Several years of work experience
Experience in development cooperation, human rights and/ or civil society organisations
Proven expertise in Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC)
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire confidence in others
Strong skills in teamwork, networking, facilitation, cooperation, and intercultural understanding
Willingness to organize field visits and to travel to different project locations within the country of assignment regularly
Business Fluent in English

GIZ’s Development Service is looking forward to applications of candidates with a professional qualification and / or university degree and at least two years of professional experience. In addition you hold the German nationality or the nationality of a member state of the European Union.

Willingness to travel on a regular basis is required.
