Position Overview:

We are looking for the ideal candidate to fill the position of Accounting/Finance Support Associate. This position can be located in one of our 3 locations (US, India, or Mexico). The person in this position will report to the Global Director of Finance and aid with the oversight of the organization’s financial transactions and operations. This position will primarily be responsible for the monthly processing, recording, and reconciliation of transactions across each of our global offices (United States, Guatemala, India, and Mexico.) Ensure invoices are properly collected, amounts are correct and allocated to the proper fund, and guarantee payments are handled and recorded accurately. Manage internal and external payment requests and provide general finance and accounting support for the international program team. Support one (1) to two (2) global offices and will backstop for other Finance & Operations Team Members based in the United States as needed. This is a fully remote position.

Principal Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Process invoices and payment requests using MIP Fund Accounting Software and Bill.com.
  • Manage payments through Bill.com.
  • Manage monthly Credit Card Reconciliations
  • Process Payment Vouchers.
  • Reconcile Operating and Payroll Bank Accounts.

Accounts Receivable

  • Reconcile fundraising income with bank statements.
  • Reconcile GAAP Approved Pledge Payments.
  • Format Cash Receipt spreadsheet for Upload to MIP.
  • Reconcile Fundraising Revenue received, and PayPal Bank Accounts.

Grant Management

  • Update Grant Monitoring spreadsheets.
  • File grant-related expense invoices in the corresponding online folder.
  • Other grant management tasks as they may arise.

Financial Management & Audit Support

  • Ensuring that the global staff follow and abide by the organization’s set financial procedures and practices.
  • Support federal audits and data collection with accurate documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Experience

  • 1-2 years of work experience in an accounting and/or finance department.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or another Spreadsheet Program.
  • Experience working with accounting software (MIP preferred).
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Highly organized and analytical thinker with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines in a changing environment.
  • Dedication to contributing to team goals.
  • Strong, developed knowledge in a dual entry accounting system. Knowledge of MIP Fund accounting is a plus.

Salary and Benefits

We offer a base salary commensurate with experience and location (USA – US$3,250-US$4,000 a month; Kolkata, India ₹114,000-126,000 per month; MX$27,000 – MX$30,000 per month NET), along with a generous benefits package including health insurance, professional development opportunities, as well as paid time off, and paid federal/local holidays.
