We are looking for an experienced Global Advocacy Lead (maternity cover) to join our international team and help grow Business for Nature’s impact. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-stakeholder team, and through this role you will be directly exposed to the decision-making process and strategy of the organization.

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in leading and coordinating advocacy campaigns, developing policy content and/or experience in engagement with policy makers. You will also have excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

We work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. You need to be comfortable working autonomously, with the ability to lead projects from inception to completion.  As a small team operating across the world, you should feel comfortable working remotely.

• Title: Global Advocacy Lead, Business for Nature
• Reports to: Advocacy Director, Business for Nature
• Term: Temporary position, ideally starting 27 October 2025 (latest 10 November 2025) until end of April 2026
• Location: We are a virtual team so you can be based anywhere providing you have the right to work there under the understanding that you will be expected to work regularly during European and Latin America (morning) time-zones. You will need to travel occasionally.
• Position: Full time (part time arrangements are also negotiable)

• Gross salary range for 6 months total: $17,500-$30,000, depending on location, for full time position.

This is a good-faith range based on a full-time (40 hour/week) employment contract. Salary may vary based on number of hours worked, local market and experience. The range listed is one component of the total compensation package for employees.

The Global Advocacy Lead will fulfill the following functions:

Lead BfN engagement with CBD processes (including in the lead up to COP17) and other relevant international processes

• Support the development of BfN’s COP17 advocacy strategy
• Lead ongoing tracking and analysis of relevant developments to identify opportunities for BfN engagement ahead of COP17.
• Develop relevant BfN policy positions.
• Plan and manage related campaigning and advocacy activities (working closely with the Global Engagement team for stakeholder outreach).
• Build partner and government relationships as relevant to advocacy plans and provide capacities and technical expertise to the rest of the BfN Advocacy team to support engagement.
• Work closely with the Communications team and other stakeholders as needed to identify and deliver campaigns and outreach linked to BfN’s priorities.

Lead key global advocacy projects (e.g. 2025/26: sectoral pathways, EHS, disclosure)

• Lead the implementation of a joint project on nature-positive pathways
• Lead internal and external project coordination.
• Central project management and coordination with relevant partners.
• Develop content and positioning.
• Collaborate closely with the Global Engagement team for project-related stakeholder engagement.
• Ongoing coordination with National Implementation and LATAM Senior Lead to ensure connectivity between global advocacy priorities and national/regional engagement.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• At least 7 years’ experience in advocacy related roles, ideally in global advocacy/policy and engaging directly with policy-makers
• A degree in political sciences, environmental management, economics, sustainable development, or any other relevant field
• Technical expertise on nature/climate and or BfN’s advocacy priorities (outlined above) would be a plus but not obligatory
• Excellent project management skills
• Experience with intergovernmental organizations (i.e. WTO, ICC, EU) or UN multi-lateral processes (i.e. CBD, UNFCCC, UNGA…) is a plus
• A talent for working in multi-stakeholder partnerships
• Excellent English written and oral communications skills particularly to convey complex ideas, thoughts and concepts for a general audience
• Strong organizational and time management skills including a capacity to track details.
• Strong sense of responsibility for taking projects from inception to completion.
• Ability to work independently
