Global Cloud Solutions Architect Cloud Environmen

We seek to engage a highly skilled Senior Cloud Engineer with a background in networking to design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions that enhance and support research activities within the organization. The ideal consultant will be responsible for assessing the existing cloud environment, identifying areas for improvement, and providing expert guidance on deploying scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures.

This position will be based at the IRRI Headquarters, Los Baños, Philippines and may only be filled by permanent citizens of the Philippines.

Responsibilities:

• Lead cloud infrastructure design and implementation: Architect, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions (by working closely with internal customers for various required projects)
• Develop and enforce cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance frameworks
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including OSU, IWMI and WF to align cloud solutions with organizational goals
• Write scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning and leverage cloud APIs to automate specific tasks
• Provide technical support and engage in technical troubleshooting
• Document issues and solutions to build a knowledge base
• Monitor cloud environments to optimize performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability
• Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and recommend innovative solutions for scalability and efficiency
• Integrate affected systems from Google to Microsoft
• Respond to security incidents and other system issues

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or any Engineering discipline
• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructure and production workloads in enterprise environments
• Experience in software development, scripting, and automation is highly preferred
• Must hold at least an Associate-level cloud certification
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Preferably has experience working in a global organization or multinational environment, handling distributed teams and cloud operations across multiple regions
