The Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), is currently looking for a highly qualified Global Emergency Coordinator for the HQ Emergency Unit. The role is key in administering and coordinating surge staff and flexible financing support provided to DRC’s emergency operations, as well as to various aspects of project management and reporting.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Daily oversight, support to and coordination of DRC’s emergency response team (EMPACT). This includes working with country offices to arrange deployments, conducting post-deployment debriefs, calculating and allocating salary costs, and any other support to team members.
  • Coordinate flexible emergency funding allocations, including supporting country offices in proposal development, quality assurance, maintaining an overall status of allocations, and working closely with finance and fundraising colleagues to ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Provide advice and support in grants matters to countries receiving emergency funding.
  • Consolidate reporting for all emergency funding grants and preparation of final reports. Work with Finance colleagues to ensure financial reports are prepared for audit, compliant with donor regulations, and work with MEAL on rep monitoring and reporting data.
  • Provide overall budget monitoring, financial and grants management and expenses control for HQ emergency projects, including allocation of HQ salaries and payment of invoices where required
  • Support with recruitment of new team members and hiring of consultants, when required.
  • Work with team members to ensure the Emergency Platform and Internal information pages are regularly updated.
  • Support with the planning of DRC’s Emergency Capacity building initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of the emergency workstream and the support to the delivery of Emergency Unit’s priorities and objectives.
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required to support the goals of the emergency unit
About you:
  • To be successful in this job we expect you to have strong administrative and coordination skills and be highly motivated to make a difference for the people affected by acute crisis.
More specifically, we also expect the following:
Required:
  • At least 3 years of full-time employment applying tasks related to the above.
  • Masters level or equivalent degree in a relevant subject 
  • Experience within the international humanitarian sector.
  • Experience in project and budget management.
  • Strong IT skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel/ 
  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and lead processes that include multiple stakeholders and interests.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
