The UNAIDS Regional Office Asia and the Pacific provides leadership and coordinates support for an expanded UN system response to ending the AIDS epidemic at regional and country level. It steers, promotes, and supports regional and national partners and the UN system towards ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Using an equity and equality lens as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UNAIDS AP Regional Office promotes effective use of strategic information of the epidemic trends and the status of its response and provides technical leadership on people-centered HIV prevention and response in the region focused on key populations and locations most at risk.
The UNAIDS Myanmar Country Office provides leadership and coordinates the expanded UN system response in Myanmar. Using an equity and equality lens as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UNAIDS Myanmar Country Office scales up HIV services focused on key populations and locations most at risk. The UNAIDS Myanmar Country Office promotes effective use of strategic information to better understand and track the epidemic
and its trends, and to measure progress and sustainable impact of the response in Myanmar. It supports efforts to strengthen the capacities of communities and their meaningful engagement in health, social protection, and human rights mechanisms, and provides support and technical guidance as necessary to national partners and policymakers.Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position:
Under the supervision of the UCD and the guidance of the Regional Adviser, and at global level with the Global Fund team, advance effective collaboration with national partners, and development partners, Global Fund CCM, PRs and civil society members and other stakeholders to promote robust country planning and implementation processes with efficient and effective Global Fund investments.
1. Facilitate and support the strong and strategic engagement of UNAIDS country office with the Global Fund country team, strengthening ongoing communication and collaboration tailored to the country context to advance joint and coordinated programming, implementation and reporting aligned with national priorities, systems and processes.
2. Facilitate and support the effective functioning of a Country Coordinating Mechanism Oversight Committee, engaging relevant technical expertise, PEPFAR and development partner support to assist CCM/CDW in their responsibilities to monitor grant implementation and resolve barriers impeding scale up of services, including the planning of needed technical support. Facilitate inclusion of community and civil society representatives in oversight activities to reinforce accountability and transparency at all levels of service delivery.
3. Support and report on GFATM country reviews, and provide the strategic policy and programme advise for the UCDs participation in relevant GFATM coordination, review and planning meetings.
4. Proactively identify emerging programme and policy issues at country level as a result of, or impacted by, Global Fund policies and programs, providing timely analyses and information to UNAIDS Country Director and respective RST and HQ focal points.
Support effective mechanisms for regular exchange of strategic country-level information with regional and headquarters staff to inform policy development, advocacy, and coordination of technical support.
5. To perform other related duties as assigned, including replacing and/or backstopping to others.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:
Essential: Advanced university degree at the master’s level or equivalent in Public Health, International Health, Social or political science. For internal candidates a first university degree and 12 years of experience will be considered as equivalent.Competencies:

Essential: Proficiency in English.
Desirable: Knowledge of additional UN Official languages.Additional Information:
Positions at the international professional category within UNAIDS will be subject to the Organization’s Mobility Policy. The above-mentioned position is a rotational position, and its standard duration of assignment is linked to the ICSC hardship classification of the duty station.

92731 at single ratePost Adjustment: 36.6 % of the figure(s) on the left side. This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
