IFC’s Eastern Africa team is seeking an intern as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP). The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. Duties and Accountabilities:  

  • Support the implementation of the Public Private Dialogue on reforms from the national private sector framework. 
  • Support the Country and Regional Management team with overall program management, planning and help monitor deliverables to ensure timely and quality delivery of the work program. 
  • Market intelligence: Extract data from internal and external databases, manipulate and present the data to a high degree of accuracy and consistency and update/maintain the information regularly. 
  • Help prepare inputs for strategic reports including country strategy, World Bank Country Partnership Framework documents, inputs into business plans, Joint WB/IFC action plan and work program agreements. 
  • Contribute to the development of relevant project documents (Concept Notes, Implementation plan, Project Supervision Reports) and scoping missions. 
  • Support the implementation of high-quality projects and interventions through research, analytical and operational work. 
  • Provide support for select visiting missions and for the organization of conferences, seminars and other events. 
  • Provide support to the country team on IFC joint efforts with the WB and other development partners. 
  • Review and screening of relevant documents/reports for consistency with strategy documents. Provide research/analytical support to work products produced and on assignments that may arise as directed by the Country Head. 
Selection Criteria:
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree level program   
  • Preferred field of study: Masters in Business Administration (MBA); Finance; Economics; Public Affairs  
  • At least three years’ experience in banking, consulting, private sector development, with a focus on delivering operations on the ground. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess regulatory and sector bottlenecks and to communicate findings to various audiences. 
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues. 
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, while working on multiple projects. 
  • Strong written and communication skills in English and French.
