The company was founded on May 29, 1933 and is headquartered in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Downstream Process Engineer with experience in Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) and Sour Water Stripper (SWS) processes. This role provides specialized and timely operations and process engineering support to all process technologies operated on both wholly-owned and affiliate refining and chemical operating facilities, collectively known as This Company Global Manufacturing. Your primary role will be to provide process engineering and operations expertise to monitor, optimize, and drive performance improvement programs for refineries’ SRU & SWS, including remote and field technical advisory support, benchmarking, and SRU & SWS technology knowledge management and exchange. You will drive our performance improvement programs which enhance process safety, optimize manufacturing cost, and increase plant reliability.Responsibilities:
- Review and monitor the performances of existing SRU (Sulfur Recovery Unit) & SWS (Sour Water Stripping) facilities using key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operability, profitability, reliability, and process safety
- Issue quarterly SRU & SWS performance benchmarking reports, including KPIs, analysis, and recommendations for performance improvement.
- Support facilities in implementing the recommendations and closing performance gaps identified in the quarterly benchmarking reports.
- Organize benchmarking and best practices exchange workshops among Global Manufacturing facilities (wholly-owned and affiliates) with SRU & SWS process technologies. These workshops will be based on Benchmarking & Best Practices Exchange Agreements among Global Manufacturing facilities.
- Issue bi-monthly SRU & SWS technical best practices bulletins for sharing within Global Manufacturing facilities.
- Provide on-demand remote and/or field technical advisory support to Global Manufacturing facilities regarding SRU & SWS operations, including process troubleshooting, start-up and shutdown activities, capacity test runs, technology pilot testing, and process design.
- Issue service reports for each support activity, highlighting facility needs, actions taken, results, and lessons learned.
- Propose cost optimization or process improvement initiatives in collaboration with Global Manufacturing facilities engineers, focusing on ‘low-hanging fruits’ that require minimal or no capital investment, through operational adjustments or design modifications.
- Conduct internal assessments of SRU & SWS process engineering standards using This Company engineering standard references. Highlight any deviations or better standards applied by affiliates for endorsement by facility management or This Company Central Engineering.
- Support the implementation of relevant engineering standards for SRU & SWS across Global Manufacturing upon facility management approval.
- Serve as the Admin Area overall coordinator for the cascading and implementation of Global Manufacturing and Corporate programs to operating facilities, ensuring effective monitoring.
- Participate in Business Plan development and coordinate with stakeholders for any capital investments in assigned process units, supporting techno-economic evaluations.
- Recommend and coordinate the deployment of proven technologies in SRU & SWS process units.
- Liaise with Global Manufacturing Excellence-Manufacturing Technical Support Division and Engineering Services for technology assessments and piloting support.
- Participate as subject matter experts in external benchmarking with third-party entities, such as Japan Cooperation Council Petroleum (JCCP) and Gulf Downstream Association (GDA).
- Participate in SRU & SWS hazard operability (HAZOP) and safety integrity level (SIL) studies as required by operating facilities.
- Participate in incident investigation activities related to SRU & SWS process technologies as required by operating facilities.
- Act as the overall coordinator for providing SRU & SWS data required by Global Manufacturing Affiliate Affairs from This Company wholly-owned facilities.
Requirements:
- This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related specialization, with a preference for an advanced degree.
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in refinery or gas plant process units, encompassing both process engineering and operations, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in managing SRUs/TGTU/SWS plants.
- Exposure to various SRU/TGTU process licensor technologies is advantageous.
