The Global Picture and Strategy Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping NATO’s strategic direction by providing comprehensive analyses and strategic guidance on global security issues. This position is essential for ensuring that NATO remains proactive and adaptive in addressing emerging global threats, fostering international partnerships, and enhancing the Alliance’s overall strategic posture. The specialist will work closely with senior NATO leadership and a broad range of stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that align with NATO’s long-term objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Analysis and Development: Conduct in-depth analyses of global security trends, including geopolitical shifts, emerging threats, and technological advancements. Develop strategic frameworks and actionable recommendations that inform NATO’s decision-making processes.
  • Global Engagement: Lead initiatives to enhance NATO’s global strategic partnerships, including collaboration with international organizations, partner nations, and non-governmental entities. Ensure that NATO’s global engagements are aligned with its strategic objectives and contribute to collective security.
  • Scenario Planning and Forecasting: Develop and refine strategic scenarios that anticipate future security challenges. Use these scenarios to guide NATO’s strategic planning and ensure the Alliance is prepared for a wide range of potential global developments.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with a diverse group of stakeholders, including military commands, government agencies, and academic institutions, to gather insights and build consensus around strategic initiatives. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to enhance NATO’s strategic coherence.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Support the development and implementation of NATO’s strategic policies, ensuring they are responsive to the evolving global security environment. Provide strategic advice to senior NATO officials on policy implications and necessary adjustments.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare high-level briefings, reports, and presentations that effectively communicate complex strategic issues to NATO leadership and other key stakeholders. Ensure that strategic insights are accessible and actionable.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in international relations, strategic studies, political science, or a related field. Advanced degrees and certifications in strategic planning or defense studies are highly desirable.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic analysis, policy development, or international relations, preferably within a military or international organization. Experience working with NATO or other multinational defense entities is highly advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in strategic analysis tools, scenario planning software, and data visualization platforms. Familiarity with NATO’s strategic planning processes and global security frameworks is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment, with a strong focus on collaboration and strategic thinking.
  • Clearance: A current SECRET security clearance is required
