Job Title: Global Procurement Associate

Location: Kigali, Rwanda (for citizens); remote work possible for citizens of other countries

Contract duration: Full time

Travel: Frequently

DRS islooking for a Global Procurement Associate to save money across the organization, reinforce controls environment, build team capacity and drive execution excellence in our procurement operations.

Description of Responsibilities

Team Management:

  • Lead and manage procurement teams in Burundi, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi, ensuring efficient and compliant operations.
  • Build and develop the team’s capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and compliance, promoting process adherence and loss prevention across the teams.

Strategic Sourcing:

  • Serve various departments within the organization by providing on-time, cost-competitive, and high-quality goods and services through innovative procurement techniques.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives, achieving over 5% savings annually across the value chain.
  • Lead local initiatives to efficiently source operational goods and services, contributing to the organization’s mission.

Operational Excellence:

  • Implement strategies to identify and mitigate supply risks through effective contract management.
  • Contribute to annual strategy setting and lead the execution of departmental key results.
  • Oversee the horizontal process for performance reporting, demand forecasting, and inventory management across all country teams.

Compliance and Control:

  • Enhance a culture of compliance within the procurement teams, ensuring adherence to established processes and controls.
  • Promote efficiency by implementing loss prevention tactics and streamlining processes.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing operations of medium to high complexity with a strong preference for experience in procurement. Experience in other related areas of supply chain management, such as warehousing, distribution, and transport management, will also be considered highly beneficial.
  • 3+ years of experience managing medium to large teams.

Skills:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis for business decision-making.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; French language proficiency is strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Willingness to travel within the countries of operation as needed.
